The 3 R's For Your Closet
This is the time to take stock of what is in your closet. Go over your
3 R's:
Remove - Review - Reorganize
1. Remove all the clothes from your closet(s).
2. Review and sort what you have taken out.
- Put them into different piles; Keep, Mend, Giveaway,
- If you have not worn an item during the past two years and it is still wearable and clean, put it in the giveaway pile; otherwise it goes into the throwaway pile.
- This is especially important if you are lacking closet space.
- The reason you don't keep it is simply because you have not worn it in the past and you probably will not wear it in the future, so you may as well give it to someone who will.
- Or -- you hope to fit into it "someday". That someday has become two years or longer. Chances are it is out of style or perhaps not age appropriate -- Give it away!
3. Reorganize. This is a good time to rethink your closet space.
- Is it adequate?
- Do you need to put in another rod for hanging for clothes?
- Do you have enough room for your shoes?
-
Does everything have to be on hangers?
- How about more shelves?
- Replace those wire hangers with plastic shirt/dress hangers. Wire hangers leave creases and tubular hangers take up space and can stretch some clothes.
- Keep all your like items together. It makes it easier to decide what you want to wear in the morning.
jackets/blazers
pants
short skirts

Keep like colors together.
- If you have the room, or another closet, put all your casual clothes in one area.
Now you have room for any new purchases. Don't go on a crazy shopping spree just because you have given some things away.
Look carefully at what you have; note what is missing, and what you could use to round out your wardrobe.
Get out of the habit of having more than two items of a particular style or color.
Experiment -- try other colors.
